Open and Close the Information Panel

The information panel displays many different sets of information depending on what you have selected on the map. It displays the results of searches or the list of layers on the map and it is often a gateway to finding more information about the features on the map. Because it holds many different kinds of information, there are many ways to open the information panel.

To open and close the information panel:

Do any of the following:

Click the arrow to the left of the I Want To menu .
In the Search box, type the name of a feature you want to search for, and then click the search icon .
On the Maps & Data Sources tab of the toolbar, click Show Layers or either of the Extract Layer tools:
On the Tasks tab of the toolbar, click Reports .
Click any of the tools in the Advanced Search Tools section of the Tasks tab on the toolbar.

To close or hide the information panel:

Click the arrow to the left of the I Want To menu.

When you hide the information panel, the data displayed is not deleted so you can refer to it again when you open the panel. When you exit the application completely, the data is cleared from the information panel.
